What is Twitch emotes?
When words just aren’t enough, there is Twitch emotes.
Twitch emotes are tiny emojis/emoticons, that can be used in the Twitch chat by streamers and viewers to express their feelings, each has its own meaning and connotation. They’re also a way for Twitch Partners and Affiliates to connect with their subscribers/fans, and reinforce their branding and personalities.
With emotes, viewers can celebrate epic moments, have fun, spread love in chat, and become active members of that channel/community.
Custom emotes are only available for Twitch Affiliates and Twitch Partners.

Custom Twitch emotes guidelines
There are a few things to consider before ordering/uploading your Twitch emotes:
1. Emote size
You can use the manual mode by uploading 3 square emotes in 3 sizes (28x28px, 56x56px, 112x112px) that are 100kb in size or less. But, it’s better to use Twitch’s auto-resize feature, you’ll only need to upload 1 square emote between 112x112px and 4096x4096px, of 1MB max in size, and let Twitch do the rest.
2. Emote format
Standard Twitch emotes must be in a .png format, not a jpg/jpeg.
Animated Twitch emotes must be in a .gif format.
3. Emote content
Emotes also have to respect Twitch policies. Examples of content prohibited from use in emotes:
- Hate
- Violence
- Drugs
- Nudity
- Sexual content
- Blood/gore
- Targeted harassment.
